Recipient of 2020 AU Legend of The Sport Award

Jim Gabler of America’s Dream Loft has been involved in the sport for over 50 years.  His commitment to owning and racing the very top pigeons is second only to his philanthropy in growing the sport.  Over the years he has been involved with numerous grass root projects and efforts to promote racing.  Jim sees the big picture when it comes to pigeon racing.  He understands that the youth and clubs must have assistance to succeed and for the sport to continue to grow.

‘Legend of the Sport’ fits Jim Gabler perfectly.  Successful racing and breeding have kept Jim at the top of the sport for decades.  All of this is secondary to his passion to have the sport continue and grow into the future. 

Jim is an “idea man” with the ability to put his thoughts into motion.  The sport needs more fanciers that realize the success of others is more important than personal success.  Jim could easily be nominated for this award using any one of the following three: breeding, racing or philanthropy. 

Few people have the capacity to plan and implement a major fundraising event that will benefit many.  It’s hard to imagine how Jim found the time with his own businesses, family and pigeons to transform his ideas into action.

A few of Jim’s highlights include being President of the National Pigeon Museum in Oklahoma and leading their fundraising efforts.  He has also donated privately to many clubs and organizations and has raised of thousands of dollars for the Northwest Junior Flyers in Massachusetts.  Most recently, Jim decided to reduce his breeders in small clubs around the USA by splitting the profits with these clubs.
